Management Aptitude Test better known as MAT is an all India National Level Aptitude Test since 1988 to facilitate the Management Institutes or B-Schools for screening candidates for admission to MBA/PGDM and allied programmes. MAT is conducted by AIMA 4 times a year MAT & is also approved by Government of  India, Ministry of HRD as a standardised national level test in 2003. MAT scores are used by the B-Schools or Management Institutes whether national or international for admission purpose. It is considered to be the largest national level test of its kind in the nation & MAT is considered to be the passport to over more than 700 B-Schools across India. MAT exams are conducted in 4 sessions in a year i.e. September, December, February & May & every year around 30000 students appear for MAT each session. After Covid 19 situations MAT is conducted in 3 modes in each session i.e. IBT,CBT & PBT.

MAT Full Form

Management Aptitude Test better known as MAT is an all India National Level Aptitude Test since 1988 . Candidates in any discipline can apply. Candidates in final year can also appear in MAT Exam.

Mode of Test : Candidates can take MAT as follows :

  1. Internet Based Test (IBT) remote proctored.
  2. Double Internet Based Test (IBT) remote proctored.
  3. Paper Based Test (PBT).
  4. Combination of PBT & Remote Proctored IBT (PBT+IBT).
  5. Computer Based Test (CBT).
  6. Combination of CBT & Remote Proctored IBT (CBT+IBT).
  7. Combination of PBT & CBT (PBT+CBT).
  8. Double CBT.

MAT Application Fees

  1. The Application Fee to appear MAT is Rs.1650 for a single appearance. However every candidate in MAT can also appear twice in any of the above combinations by paying an extra amount of Rs.1100 in adition to Rs.1650.
  2. For a single appearance in MAT a candidate can select 5 Management Institutes & if they appear twice i.e. 2 IBTs/PBT+IBT/CBT+IBT/PBT+CBT/2 CBT in any of the above combinations then they can select 2 more additional Management Institutes for sending their scores ie they can select 7 in total.

MAT Registration Steps 

A candidate has to register online at website link : https://mat.aima.in/dec21/ with Credit Card/Debit Card (ATM Card), Net Banking, UPI and Paytm wallet.

The fees details are given below:

  1. For Remote Proctored IBT or PBT or CBT charges are Rs.1650.
  2. For double Remote Proctored IBT

Or CBT + IBT

Or PBT + CBT

Or CBT + CBT

the charges are Rs.2750.

Documents required for MAT Registration :

  1. Scanned image of photo to be uploaded during registration (10+50KB).
  2. Scanned image of signature to be uploaded during registration (5+20KB).
  3. Valid email id.
  4. Credit Card/Debit Card or Net Banking details.

MAT Exam Dates 2021 : December Session

  1. Detailed Scheduled for PBT :

    Test Date : 5th December 2021 Sunday.

    Online Registration Last Date : 30th November 2021.

     Availability of Admit Card on the website : 1st December 2021 (1600 Hrs.)

  1. Detailed Scheduled for CBT :

    Test Date : 21st November 2021 Sunday.

    Online Registration Last Date : 14th November 2021.

     Availability of Admit Card on the website : 17th November 2021 (1600 Hrs.)

  1. Detailed Scheduled for CBT :

    Test Date : 19th December 2021 Sunday.

    Online Registration Last Date : 12th December 2021.

     Availability of Admit Card on the website : 14th December 2021 (1600 Hrs.)

MAT December Result Date 

December MAT results/scores are available on AIMA Website : 27 Dec 2021(Tentative)
Candidates have to download the MAT Score from AIMA website https://www.aima.in

Test Cities for MAT Exam :

Candidate should carefully notice that test cities for Paper Based Test (PBT) and Computer Based Test (CBT) are different. 

MAT-List of Participating Management Institutes :

  • While filing the registration form each & every student can select the institutes where they will have to apply or are applying for admission.
  • Important Notice : It is hereby informed to every candidate to check the status of approval or recognition of various programs directly or from the concerned Authorities or Institutes & Universities.
  • AIMA has received couple of complaints from the appearing candidate’s MAT score is not accepted by some participating institutes or Universities for admission to MBA full time course but these Institutes or Universities have confirmed AIMA MAT at the time of participation to incorporate their notifications in MAT e bulletin. So all candidates are advised to check the above mentioned information from the concerned Institutes or Universities before applying for MAT.

MAT Admit Card Download 

All MAT candidates who have registered provisionally for IBT, PBT & CBT are required to download the Admit Card from the AIMA website https://mat.aima.in as per the MAT Exam Schedule given above.

Every candidate has to strictly follow the date & time allotted to them in the Admit Card & the MAT Admit Card have all details like Candidate’s Form No, Roll No, Name, Test Venue & Address, Date, Test Time.
